That's version 2 as the techy generation will know, not the rocket kind like the old folks will remember! Laughing

So I've decided to make another, albeit smaller, mash tun.
nothing out of the ordinary, very much like the Brupaks/Hop and Grape variety.

More for my own amusement, and to the delight of brew geeks everywhere, here's a thread on the process.

You'll need to check back in a week or two as I can only do certain parts this week as you'll see below.

At the weekend I faced a simple choice.
Take the wife and kids round the clothes shops, or pop into screwfix.
Choice made, I furnished myself with some 'plumbing' bits, or as I like to call them, brewing bits.

This equated to a ball valve, tank connector and elbow.
(I can't believe this is the fourth time now - how sad?!)

Anyway, knowing I was away this week on a job, I decided to pack a couple of essential tools so I could prepare some of it whilst away.
I hate dead time when working away, so always take something to do, be it paper work or whatever. (yes, I know, even more sad - but then I'm not the one reading about it Laughing)

Tonight Matthew, the tank connector.
Ball ache of a job, but needs doing.

Hollowed out the tank connector with a round file and some elbow grease, and voila, the 15mm pipe now fits through, ready to be fitted to the tun, and tap fitting.

Now the tap.
Ball valve, very short length of pipe, and two compression nuts later, and hey presto.

Now, simple enough, but that graft had me a sweat on, so luckily I picked up a local brew to enjoy.

Technical oversight alert.
Gone to hotel, bought beer, but no bottle opener. Doh!
Only these ...

Now, surely not...

Oh yes! Laughing

Cheers!
See you back in a couple of weeks for part 2. Wink

note to self: for future reference, a teaspoon handle works well for crown caps too!

yeah, no screwdriver sadly, though I did get bumped up to an exec room today which was nice Smile

wouldn't risk the tooth method myself, no beer is worth losing teeth over!
