|
|
I went to my local micro today after a quick call to see if they ever sold any of their ingredients directly to the public. I spent about an hour there chatting on about making beer and stuff and learned quite a lot. But the best thing was coming home with this lot...
... and all for under 50 quid. Plus I've got an open invite to go back anytime I like to buy some more.
My brewery shed arrives Saturday morning and I hope to be brewing by the afternoon. Given the ingredients I've now got, if I knew what I was doing, I'd probably be spoilt for choice over what to make.

PS... I took this sneaky pic

I remember a nice micro in Kent - although it was the sussex / kent border really I think. It was a micro called Larkins and was aattached to a pub (I think called the Rock).
Not sure if it's still going though.
I should get to my local micro sometime. I keep meaning to - it's walking distance from my house. I smelt their boil for the first time the other day whilst walking into town. Loverly hop aroma on the breeze
For now I rely on my friendly web based supplier network! Here's the latest delivery ready for next weekends brewing extravaganza of Dogbolter followed by FSOS.

It's a 500g bag and costs about double what a 1kg bag of black malt costs
Still. If I shopped around and got everthing for the cheapest price then I'd be losing out on delivery charges and as you say it's probably worth it. The Caramunch I got was definately worth a few pennies expense. _________________ Planning: Dogbolter, FSOS

Yep, still in Medway.
It was the Nelson Brewery at Chatham Dockyard. The Dockyard alone is well worth a visit. _________________ Tea is for mugs... |
