- Paddle
- CO2 Injection System
- 10 x 8gm CO Bulbs

The pre-blended beer concentrate kit (Milestone Lions Pride) is a premium quality 3Kg Real Ale kit and requires no additional brewing sugar or malt with good independent customer reviews
The real difference between this and other starter kits is the quality of the barrel. It's a top tap version that draws the beer from the top rather than the bottom which reduces the amount of sediment in your glass and you can start drinking it earlier (as beer clears from the top). It's a premium product that will last for years!

I chose this kit mainly because of the barrel which seems to be popular (though not universally so – take a look in the forums and make your own mind up).
Delivery was quick and as a few comments have said that the kit was sometimes incomplete I checked thoroughly. The nut to hold the tap on the keg was missing. This should have been in a sealed bag with the other parts of the keg, so BIY can’t be blamed – a quick phone call and a replacement was posted out to me.
Making up the beer was easy (read the instructions, re-read the instructions and read the instructions again) and fermentation was done in about four days, though I left it for seven before transferring to the keg.
Read the forum sticky about the King Keg and you can’t go wrong – if you don’t read it and follow the guidance there you probably will!
The description here says that the beer in the kit is Lions Pride though the tins were unlabelled. That’s all I have to say for now, just a matter of sitting back and waiting for six to eight weeks – the worst part! I will post a review of the beer under the Lions Pride kit once it’s ready.
All in all a great kit. The only thing I would say is missing is a tap and a clip for the siphon tube but these are not essential. The biggest down side is that I now seem to have the bug and want to make more and so will need at least one more keg... Woodfordes Nog next I think... Written By: Simon Ghent (25 August 2010) I bought the Milestone Real Ale Starter Kit from here, and I am very pleased. 5 days into the process and keeping fingers crossed, found the website helpful and informative with the guides on the forum. As with the other letters, just trying to remain patient. Written By: Michael Briggs (17 August 2010) Milestone Real Ale Starter Kit
I got this kit because of the reviews and because it looked like the best kit on the Market.
I checked the kit as a few people have stated that items where broken but was happy to find that all my items where there and non-where broken. You can see that all of the items are of good quality, I was very happy with the whole kit. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. So as I first timer I got down to making the beer kit that comes with it. Not sure which beer it is as there is no label on it, but hey ho. Got a bit worried as the 25L (40 pint) Fermentation Bucket lid did not have hole for an air lock but the instruction told me to just leave the lid open a little. Carried on making the beer as per the instruction and before I knew it the beer was fermenting away, 7 days later in the barrel and 6 bottles. Bottles cleared after one week and tasted good, And even better after two weeks. I will leave the barrel for a month before I get my mate’s around, but have all ready got my second brew ready and bottled up (Brewferm Triple).
Would recommend this kit because it is so easy to do. Written By: Mark Staples (14 July 2010) It comes with a King Keg Top Tap barrel - more on this later.
The 5ft siphon tube was missing but was quickly replaced by post. Otherwise the kit has everything. The Lion's Pride beer kit is adequate but not hoppy enough for me.
4 stars because: the tap float only works if the tube is slightly pushed in, too far and it siphons air when canted over by the weight of the tube. When this happens one is forced to open the barrel lid; then you discover that you can't get it off. The lid has to be firmly screwed on, such that it is very very difficult to remove. When I think of the lid for a pressure cooker [OK it's metal] which just clips on and off for high pressure usage, I think that this lid is a bit of feeble design.
So always happy to complain about something! Written By: Colin Laurie (27 May 2010) I bought the Milestone Real Ale Starter Kit from here, and I was disappointed that when the kit arrived both the thermometer and hydrometer were both broken.
this was resolved by me sending a photo and new ones have been despatched.
I can't comment on the end results yet as its conditioning but rest assured I will be using biy again. Written By: Ben Bexson (11 May 2010)
