Traditionally known for being a strong beer brewed in East Anglia. Norfolk NOG is an excellent example of a strong 'Old' ale
This reddish beer has an initial explosion of roast malt bitterness. This settles down, as a malty sweetness makes its presence felt. Maintains a dominant roast dryness to the end.

Written By: Stephen Banfield (19 August 2010) Fantastic brew kit. I've slowly been working through all Woodforde's kits over the last 2 years. I bottled this for Xmas 2008 and it's lovely. Haven't got round to doing another yet, but I will certainly be doing in the future.
Written By: Nick Armour (11 August 2010) Made up to 20 litres with 250g dark brown sugar, ended up about 5.2% abv. Very good - roasted flavours predominate with some hops on the finish for balance, smooth and very suppable at five weeks. seems like a porter rather than an old ale to me, and a nice one at that. can't see this barrel lasting too long :-D

This has been secondary ferment (keg) h for nearly four weeks now and I tried a little (about a third) last night. My word, it is better than good. Really amazing. I'm going to leave it until mid-March then I am going to start guzzling.
I primed it with a mixture of light brown sugar and light spray malt.

I didn't think Admirals reserve could be beaten but....
I followed the instructions to the letter, and resisted temptation for 4 weeks after bottling.
I'll have to make it again as my wife (A Murphy's lover) is glugging it as much as I am.
I think I might try the Eastern ale as well.
