[Read All Reviews] [Add Your Review] Struggled to reach a decent FG with the supplied yeast - someone please tell Muntons to start including an 11g sachet with their kits (this goes for ALL their two can kits including Woodfordes). Liquorice flavoured, inky black, roasty and bitter. full bodied to the point of being chewy. An enjoyable and high quality stout, but not particularly to my taste, probably won't brew again but may appeal to those who prefer a more bitter and full bodied stout, i.e. Guinness style rather than Beamish or Murphys. Written By: Dj Keighley (25 August 2010) i was really pleased with this stout great taste and everyone who has tried it liked it aswell , will be brewing this again only problem is it's nearly all gone already! Written By: Phillip Hedges (10 May 2010) First time brewing a stout but very happy with the outcome. Tastes like guiness original , only problem I had was the gravity got stuck at 1.020 seems like a regular problem with this kit. Written By: Kevin Gaughan (14 April 2010) Excellent stuff - has the dark liquorice flavours of original Guinness, combined with the smoothness of the draught stuff. After an initial couple of weeks conditioning, it starts off rather heavy with treacle flavours, still very nice though. It becomes ever more smooth and lush as the weeks pass. I've had mine in the keg for a good few months now, I think I preferred it slightly earlier in the process when the taste had a bit more clout. Don't serve too cold else the subtle flavours will be lost - this means I have to let it warm up in the glass before serving, since my keg is stored out in the cold garden shed! Written By: Alastair Simpson (12 February 2010) Smooth stout (smoother flavours than the EDME Superbrew Stout 40pts). After fermentation, I primed pint bottles with suger. Filled and capped them, and left it to sit for four weeks. It had perfect carbonation and head. This one went down well with everyone who likes heavier brews. WILL DEFFINATELY BREW AGAIN.
