Got the King Keg with my starter kit, as a first timer I don't know a lot about barrels but what i can say is that I am using this barrel and find that it is very good. I followed the instructions to the letter and checked out the Forum and found out about using Vaseline to lubricant the o ring and lid thread. I put it together and cleaned it. Forgot to check for leaks and filled it with my first brew. Works very well, the tap is a bit difficult to use (forgot to check that as well before fitting) but once you get used to it! it's OK. I will be buying another King Keg soon.

A great barrel, would recommend removing tap and puting a thin layer of vasoline on the moving parts to it less stiff but apart from that great.

Read the sticky in the forum,read the instructions in the box & you can't go wrong. Great bit of kit. Much prefer the old style S30 valve to the new pin valve though,but thats just personal taste.Grab a bargain on 10% off day!

bottom line is King kegs are brilliant. I've got three of these beauties now and I have NEVER had a problem. All I can say is READ THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION! People who have had trouble with leaks are not preparing or maintaining their barrels properly.

A well made easy to use barrel allowing you to draw off your prize homebrew from the top down presenting a clear , consistent glass everytime right from the earliest possible date from barreling so goodbye to those cloudy and yeasty first few pints , a highly recomended barrel that is an essential piece of of kit for every home beer maker who looks for that little bit extra quality.

I agree with an earlier review that the top outlet tap is a poor idea. If the float system is not flush to the bottom of the keg no amount of CO2 gas will cause the beer to dispense. Poor idea in my opinion.
